Your Official Guide to Memorial Day Weekend in Philly
You’re not the only one that cannot believe it’s already Memorial Day Weekend! However, with the winter we had summertime will be welcomed with open arms. So if you’re ready as we are to kick-off this summer it’s only right to make the most out of your Memorial Day Weekend in Philly. To help you out we put together a list of events happening in the city throughout the weekend. Enjoy!
May 21st | 5-7 pm | Dilworth Park
Dj’s and Drinks @ Dilworth Park-Alternative Rock with DJ Reed Streets It’s time to get down at Dilworth and our DJs are just the ones to get you moving. Too shy, you say? There are plenty of drink specials from ROSA BLANCA CAFÉ to get you loosened up and in the mood to groove.

May 21st | 6:30 pm | Fergie’s Pub
Inis Nua Theatre Company offers up a reprise of The Letter of Last Resort, our contribution to Tiny Dynamite’s popular A Play, A Pie and A Pint. We call it our Second Helping! Thought-provoking and darkly funny, The Letter of Last Resort explores the surreal nature of nuclear deterrents.
Spruce Street Harbor Park Opening Weekend
May 22nd – 24th
Spend Memorial Day weekend laying in a hammock, rollerskating, drinking a beer, eating delicious food, and listening to great music. Spruce Street Harbor Park and Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest both open on Friday, May 22 at 11AM. The entire weekend features a roller derby, music concerts, dancers, arts and crafts, circus artists and more. Come join us for the celebration!

If you are looking for an exclusive, unforgettable experience during your visit, purchase tickets to Independence After Hours before they sell out! The only tour of its kind, Independence After Hours takes you on a realistic journey back to 1776. After an 18th-century-inspired dinner at historic City Tavern, and a visit by Thomas Jefferson, the group sneaks into Independence Hall where they eavesdrop on Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin discussing the Declaration of Independence. Ursula Rucker Presents: My Father’s Daughter
May 22nd-23rd | 8-9:30 pm | The Freedom Theatre
Ursula Rucker is a Philadelphia born poet, mother, activist and recording artist. She has been performing, recording and releasing works for over 17 years. Ursula has travelled and toured extensively, throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Africa – sharing her poetry, her heart, and soul.
2015 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship

Welcome to 2015 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships! The NCAA men’s lacrosse championships are affordable, fun and the opportunity to see the best college lacrosse in the country. The championships are a time for everyone to celebrate and experience college lacrosse at the highest level. If you are able to attend, we want for you to experience all that Philadelphia and the championships have to offer by participating in all of the championship fan events.
Philly Roller Girls Exhibition
May 23rd | 10:15-11am | Blue Cross RiverRink
Blue Cross RiverRink is thrilled to host the Philly Roller Girls opening weekend. They’ll be out before the rink opens on Saturday, Sunday and Monday showing off their moves and giving some pointers.
May 23rd | 11 am – 4 pm | Spruce St. Harbor Park
Art Star Pop Up Market will be back at Spruce Street Harbor Park this Summer Season! The Market will take place every Saturday from May 23rd – September 26th from 11-4pm and will feature the work of up to 20 curated art + craft vendors. Each participating vendor will be set up al fresco style under a tree lined walkway within the popular park.
May 24th | 11 am – 5 pm | Spruce St. Harbor Park
A rotating selection of hundreds of different vendors from R5 Production’s bi-annual “Punk Rock Flea Market”. Expect a wide and diverse range of vendors selling vintage goods, local crafts, used records, bicycles, new apparel, jewelry and lots more.
Memorial Day Parade Service & Reception
May 24th | 12 pm | Laurel Hill Cemetery
The traditional Decoration Day service of the Grand Army Meade Post #1 will be recreated at historic Laurel Hill Cemetery, the site of the first Memorial Day Observance in Philadelphia in 1868. The entourage will gather at the resting place of General George Gordon Meade, hero of the Battle of Gettysburg, to perform the traditional service honoring all veterans who fell defending the nation. A wreath-laying, speeches and honor guards will enhance the ceremony.
May 25th | 5-8 pm | Le Meridien
CHOCHON US TOUR & GOOSE ISLAND BEER CO. HUMBLY PRESENT chochon 555. Over 11 tons of heritage pork raised by family farms will be served across the country in a nose-to-tail touring culinary competition. In each city, five local chefs will each be given a 200 pound heritage breed pig to create six dishes for a crowd of pork-loving enthusiasts
