The Philadelphia Orchestra to Screen “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” & Perform the Score Live
Fans of the beloved wizarding franchise have reason to celebrate: The Philadelphia Orchestra will present “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban™ in Concert” from October 16 through October 18, at Marian Anderson Hall at the Kimmel Center. The performances mark the latest installment in the orchestra’s ongoing series pairing full film screenings with a live orchestral score, and are part of its 2026–27 season lineup.
The event will take audiences from the moment Harry first unfolds the Marauder’s Map to the dramatic burst of his Patronus Charm, all while the film plays on a large screen in high definition. Rather than a recorded soundtrack, the film’s music will be performed live by The Philadelphia Orchestra, syncing note-for-note with the action on screen as the musicians bring John Williams’s score to life in real time.
“Prisoner of Azkaban” marks the third film in the Harry Potter franchise and is often cited by fans as a turning point in the series, both tonally and musically, with Williams introducing new, more mysterious and emotionally layered themes. Experiencing that score performed live offers audiences a chance to hear the film’s music in a way a standard theater screening never allows.
