Spot of the Week
Pizza Brain is Not Your Average Pizza Joint
Luckily for us 215’ers we are nicely tucked away and what experts have deemed the “Pizza Belt.” With that being said we can go back and forth all day about who has the best pizza in and around the Philadelphia Metro area. But few and far between leave lasting impressions when you enter a spot to get a pie to go. So if you haven’t heard by now let me introduce you to a Fishtown gem known as “Pizza Brain.”
Now if you heard anything about this place I am sure the first description was “that hipster pizza spot on Frankford.” Yes that one. But if you enjoy a cool atmosphere along with a tasty pie then I’d advise you to mosey on down.
Believe it or not Pizza Brain boasts that it is “home to the world’s largest collection of pizza memorabilia and collectibles.” After visiting a few times it’s hard not to believe it. Everything from chotskies (always wanted to use this word since watching Office Space) to Ninja Turtle figurines the collection is sure to keep you occupied while you wait for a fresh pie.
And I know what your thinking. Hec I am not for all the frills i just want a great pie. Well aside from being a Pizza Museum they serve up some pretty great pies and for fairly reasonable prices. However, don’t expect your traditional peperoni or sausage pie so prep your pallets for toppings like goat cheese , brown sugar, and arugula. That’s right this place forces you to step outside of your pizza comfort zone. Trust me once you do it would be hard to go classic again.
If you need another reason to stop by Pizza Brain, they are conveniently adjoined to Little Baby’s Ice Cream which is consistently rated once of the best ice cream spots in the city.
So if your a true foodie and want to indulge in more than the average pizza Wooder Ice pics this spot as one of the city’s pizza pioneers. Enjoy!
