The Philly Vegfest is Taking Place This Weekend With Over 50 Vendors, Live Music and More
Maybe you’re already plant-based, looking for a lifestyle change or just enjoy great food. Either way the Philly Vegfest is back and taking place June 10th at the South Street’s Head House Square on 2nd and South Street from 11 am to 5 pm.
Promised to be a “plant powered paradise,” the Philly Vegfest will feature over 50 vendors and include live music, and discussions. “This event is an opportunity to show all things in the pant-based and vegan world, giving everyone a platform to share what they do,” states organizer Richard Rogers.
The festival was originally started by The Human League back in 2014. After going dormant, Rogers was able to help revive the festival in 2018, which garnered a turnout of 5,000 attendees. However, the festival was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. Now Rogers is reviving the festival once again and hosting it at its original location, which Rogers states is “a full circle moment.”
This year, guests will get to enjoy live music from acts such as The Missing Frets, Leon Jordan Sr. Quartet. Gumbo Nouveax, and Mia Johnson. In addition to the live acts, Philly Vegfest will also have a few key speakers including Dr. Milton Mills, food scientist Dr. Anabelle Broadbent, and vegan historian Vance Lehmkuhl.
“Philadelphia Vegfest is a celebration of life & the vegan lifestyle, promoting compassionate, sustainable, and healthful living,” Rodgers adds.
