Tameartz’ Hip Hop in the Park Fest Returns to The Oval Featuring Rich Medina, Cosmo Baker, Sat-One, & More
The origins of hip hop can be traced back to community parks where MC’s and DJs rocked crowds as B-Boys and grafitti writers provided their element to the mix. Looking to stay true to its roots, hip hop curator and ambassador, Tameartz is bringing back his popular Hip Hop in the Park Fest to The Oval on August 9th from 12 pm-9:30 pm
What started in 2020 has spawned into an annual event that showcases the best hip hop talent across all elements. Past performers include Tony Touch, Large Professor, Schooly D, Peedi Crakk, and many more.
This year’s festival will be a who’s who of Philly hip hop talent including Rich Medina, Cosmo Baker, SAT-ONE and NYC legends DJ JS1 and Craig G. In addition look for other talented artists such as Reef The Lost Cauze with DJ Caliph-Now, Bear-One with Truck North from the Legendary Roots Camp and the return of The Last Emperor, EMYND, YNGFU, DJ Mike Nyce NYCE, and DJ Sun. Making their way up from Florida Kaoticblaze and MyVerse will be performing as well as DJ’s Kendollaz, DJ Nash, and Flygirrl.
“The festival was born out of The Giveback for Puerto Rico event in the year 2018. I curated a fundraiser with friends to help the island after hurricane Maria. During the event a friend mentioned that the event felt like the old days of Hip Hop in the Park. 2 years Later the festival was born,” Tameartz describes.
For those looking for curated vendors, there will be plenty of clothing lines, makers and artists as well as a couple of nonprofits offering resources and help to those in need. T-Mobile will be present with giveaways and raffles.
“This event is an immersion of the hip hop experience involving all of the elements including live graffiti on a box truck and walls, caricatures, a display of new artist work, giveaways, prizes and an all-day of fun food vendors and drinks in the beer garden. This year is our 5th anniversary, and we want the whole city to know we are here for them. This event is free to everyone all they have to do is RSVP. So, come on out, bring your blankets, lawn chairs and hang with us for a full day of dance and community gathering where joy and laughter along with Hip Hop will be celebrated. Family friendly so bring the little ones,” Tameartz adds.
