Suburban Station Will Soon Feature PPE Vending Machines!
Hate the feeling of leaving home and forgetting your mask? Well now you can get one if you’re in Center City. SEPTA’s busiest hub, Suburban Station will be getting a new feature this week. An out-of-town agency is installing PPE vending machines just outside of the turnstiles.
RapidMask2Go, a New York based company plans on installing the machines Tuesday and will feature individually wrapped KN95 masks, hand sanitizer as well as wet wipes.. RapidMask2Go founder David Edelman told The Philadelphia Inquirer, “I think this is right in time for the expanded SEPTA schedule. Transit hubs are a natural fit because masks are a requirement to ride the trains.”
SEPTA along with the city is making face masks mandatory for everyone inside public spaces and even outdoors if folks are unable to social distance.
Edelman who along with his partner stumbled upon his face mask vending businesses by having a surplus of masks when he was forced to buy in bulk. Now his mini-vending empire is located in several locations in New York and expanding in more territories.
The PPE vending machines are able to operate on a contactless payment method in addition to cash and credit cards. The face masks are going for $3 a pop. Edelman is in talks with the city to expand to other locations in Philadelphia in the future.
