Pat’s Steaks Recently Announced a Limited-Time ‘New School’ Cheesesteak Featuring a Seeded Roll
After nearly a century of serving up what many consider the original cheesesteak, Pat’s King of Steaks is shaking things up — just a little.
Founded in 1930 and widely credited as the birthplace of the cheesesteak, Pat’s is now offering a limited-edition seeded roll for the first time in its 96-year history.
In a post shared with fans, Pat’s announced:
“You asked for it! Starting today, we’re going ‘New School’ for the next few weeks by introducing a limited-edition style on a custom seeded Aversa Italian Bakery roll with the steak, cheese & onions melted together in the new school way.”
What’s “New School”?
The new option features:
- A custom seeded roll from Aversa Italian Bakery
- Steak, cheese, and onions melted together rather than layered
- The same signature Pat’s flavor — just with a slightly different texture and bite
“For cheesesteak traditionalists, there’s no need to panic. The classic version — served on the familiar non-seeded Aversa roll with ingredients layered the original way — remains available,” Pat’s cited.
Chicken cheesesteaks are also part of the lineup, giving customers even more ways to try the updated format.
