Cake & Joe Is Opening in Center City, and the First 100 Guests Will Receive a Complimentary Cake of Their Choice

Center City is about to get a little sweeter.Local coffee and dessert shop Cake & Joe is opening its third Philly location at 1735 Market Street on Wednesday, February 18 at 10 a.m. To celebrate, the first 100 customers through the doors will receive a complimentary cake of their choice.

Founded in December 2020 by Sarah Qi and Trista Tang, Cake & Joe quickly built a loyal following with its specialty coffee program and beautifully crafted single-serve cakes. With thriving storefronts in Pennsport and Fishtown, the duo is now bringing their signature mix of caffeine and confections to the heart of Center City.

The new 1,200-square-foot café will offer seating for 24 indoors and an additional 16–20 outdoor seats. The shop will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., filling a noticeable gap in the neighborhood for evening coffee and dessert options.

As with its other locations, guests can expect:

  • A rotating selection of single-serving cakes, including their signature mousse cakes
  • Freshly roasted coffee from Evan Inatome’s Elixr Coffee
  • Specialty espresso drinks, teas, and ice-cold refreshers
  • Calpis beverages
  • House-made sandwiches and salads for breakfast and lunch

The Center City outpost will also introduce expanded grab-and-go offerings and a stronger focus on Chinese-inspired dishes, reflecting the founders’ heritage. Pastries will play a larger role in the menu, and the location is designed to serve surrounding office workers along the Market Street corridor.

“Philadelphia has been so good to us these last five years, and we are excited to move into yet another neighborhood and serve another part of the city,” said Qi. “This new location will have the most offerings we’ve had yet, and we are looking forward to really leaning into our Chinese heritage for our menu. We think this is a perfect location for us, especially considering so many coffee shops in the city close early, and we will be open until at least 7 p.m. every night.”
