Javelin and Ranstead Room Team Up for One-Night-Only Cocktail Bar Takeover in Fairmount

Cocktail lovers in Philly are in for a rare collaboration as Javelin welcomes Ranstead Room for a special one-night-only bar takeover on Tuesday, June 2.

Taking place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Javelin’s Fairmount location at 1811 Fairmount Avenue, the event brings together two of the city’s standout cocktail talents: Javelin’s Richie Tray and Ranstead Room head bartender Margarito Munive.

Known for its sushi and Japanese-inspired cuisine, Javelin will host the collaborative cocktail experience featuring eight original drinks blending Japanese and Latin influences with tropical tiki-inspired elements.

“We’re really excited to have Margarito join us, especially to collaborate with Richie,” said Javelin owner Albert Zheng. “These two guys are as good as it gets as cocktail makers in Philadelphia, so for them to combine their skills and inspiration to develop this menu should be pretty epic.”

The limited-edition cocktail lineup includes:

  • Yuzu Toki Highball
  • Miso coconut-washed raspberry milk punch with coconut raspberry foam
  • Roku gin white negroni washed in sushi rice
  • Zaya rum pistachio orgeat and guava tiki cocktail
  • Mango habanero mezcal Naked and Famous with black lava salt
  • Flamed banana coffee rye sazerac
  • Lychee sake and rum daiquiri with cucumber-wasabi air
  • Sesame fat-washed shochu with fino sherry, ginger, banana bitters, and soy sauce saline

The takeover will be walk-in only with a pay-as-you-go cocktail menu, alongside selections from Javelin’s regular food menu.

Munive has served as head bartender at Ranstead Room for the past four years, helping cement the speakeasy’s reputation as one of Philadelphia’s premier cocktail destinations. Hidden behind an unmarked entrance on Ranstead Street in Rittenhouse, Ranstead Room has become known for its intimate atmosphere and elevated cocktail program.

Meanwhile, Richie Tray has quickly emerged as one of Philadelphia’s rising cocktail stars, earning recognition as a “mixologist to watch” for his inventive flavor combinations and modern approach to drinks.

For one night, the two bartenders will combine styles, techniques, and inspirations to create a collaborative menu designed to showcase both creativity and craftsmanship — making this crossover event a must for Philadelphia’s cocktail scene.
