As Philly welcomes visitors from around the world for the FIFA World Cup, a new law allowing select bars and restaurants to stay open until 4 a.m. is finally taking effect. However, many establishments hoping to take advantage of the extended hours are still waiting for approval.

In March, Governor Josh Shapiro signed legislation allowing qualifying businesses in Philadelphia to apply for temporary permits extending alcohol service and operating hours until 4 a.m. during the World Cup. The measure was widely celebrated by hospitality operators who anticipated increased demand from international visitors, late-night watch parties, and post-match crowds.

The PLCB began issuing approvals this week and says applications will continue to be processed on a rolling basis. Businesses have until June 19 to apply.

Approved Venues

The first round of approved establishments includes a mix of sports bars, nightclubs, entertainment venues, and hospitality destinations across Philly.

Businesses currently approved to remain open until 4 a.m. include:

  • Craft Hall
  • Lucy’s
  • Concourse Dance Bar
  • Frame
  • Dolphin Tavern
  • Woody’s
  • Yakitori Boy
  • Birra
  • Fabrika
  • Club Risque (both Philadelphia locations)
  • Ballers Philadelphia
  • 1518 Bar & Grill
  • Sin City
  • Cheerleaders
  • South Bowl
  • Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia

The approvals represent just over a quarter of the Philadelphia businesses that applied for the extended-hours permits.
