Brigantessa is Now Hosting Beer Tastings, Pizza Parties and Pasta Nights!

This April, there are tempting reasons to make Brigantessa your nightly dinner destination to experience the energy and traditions of Southern Italy. New Chef Damon Menapace, together with Chef de Cuisine Adam Taylor and owners Francis Cratil-Cretarola and Cathy Lee, have developed a lineup of food-and-drink events for every night of the week that make East Passyunk’s favorite neighborhood trattoria an ideal spot to enjoy authentic Southern Italian fare. Whether it’s pizza and craft beer with friends on aTuesday evening, or to explore the culinary boundaries of pasta on a fun, casual Thursday date night, Brigantessa has things covered.

Weekly offerings include…

MondayThe restaurant invites diners to BYOB with No Corkage Fee, allowing guests to bring in a favorite bottle – or a six-pack of craft beer – for no additional charge. Brigantessa’s rustic menu of Southern Italian favorites is perfect for pairing with fine wine and beer, and their knowledgeable staff will guide guests on a memorable dining experience.

TuesdayGuests can enjoy Half-Price Authentic Neapolitan Pizzas, including the restaurant’s famed DOP Margherita and Marinara pies for just $10 each. Grab a cozy table for two or bring the co-workers in for a spirited post-work celebration because the best conversations begin over pizza.

WednesdayTo coincide with the Avenue’s Springtime Passeggiata (evening stroll), Brigantessa offers Happy Hour Until 8 p.m., with happy-hour pricing on rotating antipasti, select pizzas, craft beers, wines and cocktails. Check Brigantessa’s social media pages for weekly and seasonal additions to the menu, all affordably priced for large groups and individuals alike.

ThursdayThursday is Pasta Night, with sample portions of four house-made pastas (three chosen from the menu and a fourth that is a nightly special) for just $30. The entire table must participate, but there is no minimum number of guests to enjoy these authentic tastes of Puglia, Molise, Campania, Calabria and more. This is the best way to savor the complexity of their nuanced cuisine.

FridayChef Taylor spit-roasts or char-grills a complete meat entree over Brigantessa’s signature wood-fired grill. Selections change every Friday and may includeMaialino, or leg of lamb, for example.

SaturdayIt’s time for weekend brunch: on Saturdays, Bottomless Italian and Mexican Bloody Marias, Greyhounds and Prosecco Mimosas are only $20 with the purchase of any brunch item from 12 noon until 3 p.m. Then, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., Brigantessa fills in the late afternoon void by throwing the ultimateNeapolitan Pizza Party, featuring $10 select pies and $2 off all beer flights. Why should Sundays have all the fun? Relax and experience all the culinary comforts of Italy without ever leaving South Philadelphia.

Sunday: Bottomless Brunch Cocktails return on Sundays from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., again just $20 with any brunch dish. Brigantessa’s casual and convivial vibe is the perfect soundtrack to end the weekend.

Brigantessa is also kicking off a semi-regular series of Free Beer Tastings on Tuesday, April 26. Working with their Passyunk Avenue neighbors at Brewery ARS, they will host an informal tap takeover and family-style meal in the restaurant’s second-floor dining room. From 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., guests can stop by for complimentary tastings as the “South Philly Garage Brewery” takes over three of Brigantessa’s 16 taps. Representatives from the brewery will be on hand to educate and answer questions about their brewing methods and philosophies. Brewery ARS believes in making incredibly fresh beer, and they share Brigantessa’s singular commitment to seasonality and using the highest quality ingredients.

Then, at 7 p.m., all guests are invited to sit down to a shared meal of pizzas and snacks, such as fried scamorza, baccala fritters and eggplant polpette, all served to the table and designed to complement the beers. The meal is just $45 per person, and Brewery ARS beers and other beverages will be available for purchase throughout. Additional details, including the menu and featured beers, will be available via Brigantessa’s social media as the event draws near. Brigantessa plans to host similar dinner gatherings with other craft brewers in the future.
