Giant is Adding Two More Supermarkets in Philly Next Month Including One at Fashion District
We reported back in May that the central Pennsylvania-based supermarket chain Giant is increasing its presence here in Philly. Now it looks like things are moving faster than expected. Next month customers will have the option of visiting two new supermarkets slated to open at the top of December.
The first Giant to open next month will be located at 1403 S. Columbus Blvd., along the riverfront not far from the Home Depot and will employ roughly 150 workers. Scheduled for a December 3rd opening the location will be a sprawling 46,000 sq. ft. and will feature a beer and wine eatery, plant-based options, as well as sushi made in-house. Hours of operation will be 6 am to 11 pm daily.
The next Giant will be an Heirloom Market which are typically smaller but offer many of the same options a normal Giant would. Scheduled for a December 16th opening, the Heirloom Market will be located at the old Strawbridge’s at the Fashion District and will employ 100 employees. Encompassing 32,000 sq. ft. the Heirloom Market will also feature a beer and wine eatery with kombucha on tap as well as a gourmet cheese department and grab-and-go-meals. Hours of operation will be 7 am to 10 pm daily.
