Candytopia Philly Announces Grand Re-Opening and Second Engagement for Candy-Themed Wonderland

Summertime in Philadelphia just got so much sweeter with flying unicorn pigs, confetti explosions, marshmallow tsunamis and candy at every turn. Candytopia announces its grand re-opening and second limited-run engagement at Philadelphia Fashion District, located at 901 Market Street in Center City. Sugar meets spice at this deliciously immersive and outrageously interactive candy-wonderland that saw sold out audiences down Market Street before the pandemic. For its sugar-coated return, Candtopia brings more than a dozen dazzling and colorful enivronments where colossal candyfloss constructions meld with a tantalizing taffy twistedness. If you’ve ever dreamed of nibbling your way through Candyland or scoring a Golden Ticket, you’ve come to the right place. Bring your family, your friends, and your sweet tooth for an experience like none other! Candytopia is here at least through Labor Day Weekend and tickets are on sale now, $28 for adults, $20 for kids 4 to 12 years old, and free for ages 3 and under. Tickets include access to all exhibits and experience, a trip to the Marshmallow Pool, a visit to the secret Candytopia gift shop  – and yes, free candy in every single room. Tickets are now on sale at https://www.candytopia.com/philadelphia.

“We’re truly excited to re-open in the vibrant City of Philadelphia,” said Candytopia CEO John Goodman. “We are proud to keep our candy wonderland in Center City for a second engagement. Our team in Philadelphia is ready to welcome back neighbors, visitors and return candy-lovers with open arms and lots of candy-coated fun. Come out and visit us at Philadelphia Fashion District – and make sure to make it a day in Center City by supporting all of the amazing small businesses, restaurants and shops around us. Philadelphia is ready, set and open again – and Candytopia is back in the heart of it all once again.”

Around the country, Candytopia has drawn long lines, sold-out crowds and over 1.5 million visitors. It has amassed a huge following among guests of all ages and A-list celebrities alike including: Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Biel, Bruce Willis, Adam Sandler, Kevin Durant, Josh Duhamel, Christina Aguilera, James Corden, Wiz Khalifa, Usher, T.I., Hilary Duff, Alessandra Ambrosio and more. Early limited run engagements have included Santa Monica, Dallas, Atlanta, New York and San Francisco. In 2021, Candytopia is back open and operating in Philly, Atlanta and Houston, with additional cities to be announced in the near future.

For Philadelphia, Candytopia debuted in September 2019, as part of the opening of Fashion District Philadelphia, the first monumental retail and entertainment offering of its kind in Downtown Philadelphia. Candytopia was one of the main experiential anchors for the new concept – and it drew sold-out crowds upon opening. Now, just in time for summer fun, Candytopia is back – and with it comes all of the signature elements that make it a truly one-of-a-kind experience that you don’t want to miss.

For re-opening, Candytopia Philly brings back the most popular attractions, Philly-inspired candy artwork, unique photo opportunities, candy-inspired experiences, and of course, actual candy around every corner. Top attractions for this second engagement include a marshmallow pit filled with over 250,000 foam marshmallows; an underwater-themed wonderland with fantastical candy-covered sea creatures; a rainbow-filled room with flying unicorn pigs and confetti explosions galore, along with many more sweet surprises.

Candytopia Philadelphia also features Philly-centric elements inspired by local culture and landmarks such as a candy-covered replica of the Liberty Bell, a tribute to Rocky, a candy portrait of Will Smith as the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, a sugary ode to Campbell’s Soup in Camden, and more.

Guests are treated to candy samples throughout the entire experience including sours, gummies, chocolate treats, nostalgic favorites, and more.

EXPERIENCES AND CANDY ART

Candytopia’s in-house candy art team has spent thousands of hours using hundreds of thousands of pieces of candy to make the unique creations inside Candytopia. Inside the Philly location, look for more than 50+ pieces of original art and recreations of famous artwork and pop culture icons. Highlights of select exhibits, experiences and rooms include:

* Love Statue – The perfect combination of candy and love is our recreation of the Philly Love Statue made of blue raspberry cola bottles, red gum balls, and red gummy bears. (37.5K pieces of candy used, 260 hours of construction, and 47KG of sugar)

* Liberty Bell – One of the most iconic historical symbols of democracy, Candytopia’s liberty bell is made of sour belts, pineapple gummy bears, licorice laces and cola bottles. (24K pieces of candy, 85 hours of construction, and 32KG of sugar)

* Candytopia Dragon – The dragon greets guests as they enter through the doors of the confectionery creation – made up of 16 different candies including Swedish Fish, peachie hearts, and four kinds of rock candy. Each of the wings weigh 75lbs each.  (125K pieces of Candy, 542hours of construction and 50KG of Sugar)

* Edward Munch’s The Scream – Featuring over 30 different types of candy to recreate this Expressionist masterpiece. (2.6K pieces of candy, 74 hours of construction and 1KG of sugar)

*  Sphinx – Sphinx is the centerpiece of the Candytopia Gallery and is homage to the first candy makers, The Egyptians. It is a fitting piece as Philadelphia is home to prized Sphinx at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Penn Museum. This majestic creation is made from gummy bears, gummy building blocks, jellybeans, Chiclets and sour belts. (78K pieces of candy, 317 hours of construction and 8.932KG of sugar)

* Humprey –  Saying goodbye as guests leave is the lovable elephant, Humprey.  His pink and white motifs are made up of candy hearts, strawberry puffs, gum balls, and jellybeans. (22.6K pieces of Candy, 432 hours of construction and 714 Grams of sugar)

* Candytopia Gallery – At first glance this themed room looks like any other art museum installation until you realize the iconic paintings such as Edward Munch’s The Scream, sculptures like Rodin’s The Thinker and portraits of iconic figures like Marilyn Monroe, are recreated entirely of candy.

* Marshmallow Pool – This immersive experience contains over a quarter million foam marshmallows. End to End, they would stretch 8 miles, 1.5 times the height of Mt Everest.

* Rainbow Room – Get ready for a whirlwind of Pigacorns, confetti and laughter.  The pig butt cannons will envelope you in a confetti rainbow while the turntable Sugar Rush photo station will send  memorable pictures right to your email.
