The Twisted Tail Hosts Ultimate Bourbon Tasting and Blind Whiskey Tasting

The Twisted Tail, the popular Southern-inspired restaurant, bar and live music venue on Headhouse Square known for its extensive array of brown spirits, is hosting an exclusive Owner’s Collection Tasting of several hard-to-find and award-winning bourbons, ideal for the bourbon aficionado on Friday, July 23 from 6:30 pm – 9 pm and its first-ever Blind Tasting whiskey event, perfect for the whiskey novice on Sunday, August 15 at 2 pm.

George Reilly, Master Craftsman and owner of The Twisted Tail, will lead guests in a guided bourbon tasting and teaching featuring exclusive bottles such as

  •  Rock Hill Farms: Named “The World’s Greatest Bourbon” by Washingtonian Magazine.
  •  George T. Stagg 2020: An annual release by Buffalo Trace and a very well-known and sought out bourbon. It is uncut, unfiltered and 150 proof.
  •  Pappy Van Winkle 15yr 2020: One of the most coveted and extraordinarily exclusive bourbons. Pappy Van Winkle 15yr is elegant and smooth with sweet hints of vanilla that finishes with a complex leather and oak taste.
  •  Michter’s 25yr: Hand selected by Mitcher’s Master Distiller and Master of Maturation, this bourbon displays the complex character and quality of their older whiskeys. These releases come as a rarity, with the last being three years ago and prior to that, 2008.

“We are excited to be hosting two exceptional tastings at The Twisted Tail. We wanted to create a fun and informative way for imbibers to explore a variety of different bourbons and whiskeys. The classes are designed to support brown spirts novices as they explore and develop a better understanding of brown sprits and become true brown spirits aficionados,” said Reilly.

To enhance the experience of imbibing on powerhouse bourbons, guests will enjoy complimentary light bites in addition to the exclusive bourbons. The tasting hosted in the restaurants Club Room is limited to only 20 guests. Tickets for the tasting can be purchased for $250 each here.

In addition to the Owner’s Collection Tasting, The Twisted Tail is also hosting its first-ever Blind Tasting of several different styles of whiskey, perfect for the whiskey novice on Sunday, August 15 at 2 pm.

Guests will have the opportunity to imbibe on a collection of five different styles of whiskey and learn to distinguish between a variety of different dark distilled styles and tasting notes of whiskey, without pre-conceived judgement of what they are drinking, as it relates to mashbills, distillation, ageing, and bottling. Guests will enjoy complimentary light bites with their tasting and teaching.

The whiskey-forward Blind Tasting is the first in a series of blind tastings to be hosted by The Twisted Tail. Each blind tasting session is limited to 20 people. Tickets for the first Blind Tasting can be purchased for $50 each here.

The Twisted Tail boasts one of the city’s best selections of bourbons and whiskeys in addition to a well-considered and extensive craft beer selection.
