Personally I liked PYT. The adult shakes with the perfect “cheat day” burgers were a match made in heaven. Couple that with those beautiful summer days at the Piazza when it was buzzing in its early years, and you have a recipe for a great dining out experience. But somewhere between Shady’s bogus tip and the Groupon fiasco things just never seemed to get back on track.
Customer service complaints started rolling in and the relationship between Tommy Up and the Piazza got really nasty. In a effort to give a big F-U to his haters and show the Piazza management he can flourish without them, Tommy closed his doors, packed up his shit and headed north on 95.
This past October PYT opened its doors in the SOHO section of NYC. However, it didn’t take long before those litany of the same complaints started rolling in. This time with angry New York hipsters and uppity foodies. Sucks that the bizz fizzled, we wouldn’t wish that on anyone but it definitely gave Philly a black eye in the sense that PYT was being hyped as a Philly gem that was going to shine bright in the big apple. Womp Womp. So just what did New Yawkahs think of the over-the-top burger joint? Well see for yourself!
