The World Series of the little leagues will get some Philly flavor this year with the advancement of Center City’s Taney Dragons.  The Dragons punched their ticket to the big show by thumping Delaware’s Newark National team by a decisive 8-0 win.

The team will definitely garner media attention as their starting pitcher Mo’ne Davis will be the first girl to play in the Little League World Series since 2004.  In her win against the Delaware team she pitched a shutout and recorded six strikeouts.

The Little League World Series, which is held in Williamsport, PA begins August 11th.  However, The Taney Dragons are not scheduled to play until Friday August 15th at 3pm.  We will keep you up to date with the Taney Dragons quest for the championship.
