Night Out on 9th: Night Market Returns to South Street With Food Vendors, Merch, a Philadelphia Union Kicking Challenge and More

The South Street Headhouse District is proud to announce the return of Night Out on 9th: Night Market, taking place on Friday, July 31st from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on the 900 and 1000 blocks of South Street. The beloved annual event returns in partnership with the Bella Vista Neighbors Association (BVNA), the Friends of the South Street Police Mini Station, and the National Night Out initiative.

Night Out on 9th is a free, family-friendly celebration honoring the residents, businesses, and civic leaders who work together to make South Street one of Philadelphia’s most vibrant and unique neighborhoods. The evening brings together community organizations, local vendors, live entertainment, and city resources in one lively outdoor gathering.

This year’s Night Market features an exciting lineup of community activations and special guests, including:

  • Meet Bailey, the PPD’s new crisis response canine and member of the Crisis Intervention Response Teams (CIRT), trained to support 911 calls and behavioral health crises with a focus on de-escalation and community-based solutions.
  • Celebrate the opening of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens’ newest exhibition, accompanied by a live Son Jarocho band performance.
  • Test your soccer skills at the Philadelphia Union’s IBX Kicking Challenge tent — perfect for fans of all ages.
  • Learn about Sharing Excess, the nonprofit redistributing surplus food across the Philadelphia region.
  • Visit the Department of Sanitation’s Recycling Office for tips, resources, and free recycling bins.
  • Stop by PWD’s Water Bar to discover more about Philadelphia’s high-quality tap water and public water projects.

The event also features local artisan vendors, live music, delicious food and drinks, family-friendly games, and community resource booths throughout the evening.
