Next Year Peco Plans to Sell Electricity to Customers at Cheaper Rates During Non-Peak Hours!
Peco plans to shift the way it does business next year by rewarding customers who use electricity during non-peak hours with cheaper rates. Â Their hope is to encourage customers to change they way they use electricity. Â It’s all part of Peco’s attempt to comply Act 128, which is an energy efficiency law established back in 2008.
Currently Peco offers the same rates all-day-long. However, the new rate schedule was just given the approval by Pennsylvania regulators. The new off-peak rate change will also be available for commercial businesses as well.
Electricity being used Monday through Friday from 2 pm – 6 pm will be considered peak hours and subject to higher rates.  The lowest rates will be given to what Peco considers “super off-peak” and will be from 12 am to 6 am daily. Although the rates will take effect September 2021, Peco has yet to determine what they will charge for each tier.
