Love Park Will be Hosting a Kimchi Festival With Tastings, Kimchi Making Workshops, Entertainment and More

If you love Korean food then you already know kimchi is a staple in the culture. Perhaps you’re Korean and grew up eating it or just someone that appreciates the culture and love great tasting food. Either way Love Park will be hosting the Kimchi Festival on October 7th from 11 am to 5 pm.

The Kimchi Festival will be jam packed with entertainment, demonstrations and of course kimchi.  Guests will get to enjoy activities including Korean traditional drum, dance demonstrations, Taekwondo demonstrations, Hanbok fashion show, Makgeolli tasting, folk games (Jeggichagi, Ttakji, etc), and kids workshops. There will also be a unique Korean cultural market featuring Korean t-shirts, mugs with Hangul, and more.

As for the kimchi, the festival will have the Kami food truck and KangNam Chicken on location selling Korean dishes. Guests will get to enjoy Korean’s best food tables with all food items priced at $15 or less.  This will give guests the opportunity to sample a wide range of flavors & options of Korean cuisine.  Cooking demonstrations will take place throughout the day, where you can see how dishes are made.

  • 1:00PM-1:30PM Cooking Demonstration #1 – Kimchi bok-keum-bap & Kimchi jeon
  • 3:00PM-3:30PM Cooking Demonstration #2 – Kimchi bok-keum-bap & Kimchi jeon
  • Tasting station -Kimchi jeon & Kimchi varieties (during the festival)

For those looking for a more hands-on experience there’s also an option to sign up for cooking workshops for $15 each where you’ll have the opportunity to make your own kimchi. However, you must register in advance at kimchifest.com All sections are limited in number and it’s recommend all participants come to venue 30 minutes prior to the start of each workshop.

  • 12 pm – 12:40 pm: Workshop #1
  • 2:00 pm -2:40 pm: Workshop #2
  • 4:00PM-4:40PM: Workshop #3

The Kimchi Festival is organized by the Korean Cultural Foundation which helps to assist in fostering a better understanding of the Korean culture and to help reduce the gap between first, second, and third generations in the Korean community as well as preserve and promote Korean culture and heritage; develop Korean cultural activities that is appropriate for the local community.
