Lapstone & Hammer Return to Their Roots With the New Limited Edition Lapstone & Hammer x Asics “Indigo Collection”

With Sneaker Con Philadelphia on fast approaching, we wanted to share the news of a local retailer making waves in the sneaker culture. Lapstone & Hammer (1106 Chestnut St.) are no strangers when it comes to collaborations and highly sought after drops. Now it looks like L&H is once again making headlines with their latest capsule, the LAPSTONE INDIGO 2024.

If you are a follower of the brand then you remember their early dye capsules including Champion hoodies. Fast forward to today and their dye game has elevated to sneakers. While the theme of indigo is a Lapstone staple, the additions of Standard Issue and Asics make this drop unique.  Featuring cardigans, hoodies, tees and sweats made especially tailor-made by Jimmy Gorecki’s Standard Issue brand, and two of Asics’ most popular runners hand-dyed right here in Philly, this type of capsule is a first for Lapstone.

“Lapstone and indigo have deep roots together. From the dip-dyed Champion hoodies of our very first seasonal collection to the all natural indigo dye we explored in our “Indigo Stonewash” project, it’s a theme we keep returning to again and again. For good reason too, as the indigo plant is the oldest and most widespread source of dye on Earth, as well as one that can be processed and interpreted in myriads of different ways,” Lapstone states.

Asics’ which have skyrocketed in popular in the last few years have been hot in the sneaker community with their deep roster of early-aughts tech runners. While Lapstone has experimented with dip-dying shoes in the past, they’ve never made any available for purchase until now. “We chose the Gel-NYC and Gel-1130 silhouettes for this project with the thinking that their abundance of mesh and suede materials would soak up the dye really well – and we were righ. The layered construction of both models’ uppers, along with the metallic silver and suede overlays really make the indigo pop, turning these already coveted sneakers into absolute must-haves,” Lapstone added.

LAPSTONE INDIGO 2024 also features the first of three installments of the “Standard Issue for Lapstone” project that will continue throughout the spring. The Los Angeles-based label produced a range of apparel in two distinct colorways: Deep Indigo and Stonewashed Indigo Signature Standard Issue hoodies and sweatpants feature cream-on-Deep indigo and navy-on-Stonewashed
Indigo prints of our new ‘70s-inspired LH logo. Tees feature the Lapstone script logo on the chest and a special Standard
