Heads Up: The 16th Annual Philly Naked Bike Ride Returns This Saturday — Here’s the Route
Philadelphia’s streets are about to become a little more colorful—and a lot less clothed. The 16th Annual Philly Naked Bike Ride (PNBR) rolls out on Saturday, August 23, 2025, beginning at Lemon Hill and ending at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Pre-ride festivities start at 2 p.m., body painting wraps up at 4:30 p.m., and after a brief announcement at 4:45 p.m., the ride officially begins at 5 p.m.
The Philly Naked Bike Ride is organized to raise awareness about fuel-conscious transportation, body positivity, and cycling advocacy. Participants use the ride as a platform to promote these messages while traveling through the city on bicycles or other forms of human-powered transport.
The event is described by organizers as “bare as you dare,” indicating that nudity is optional. Some participants choose body paint, costumes, or partial clothing, while others ride fully nude. The emphasis is on individual choice and personal expression.
The Philadelphia ride is one of many held internationally as part of the World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) movement. The first coordinated rides took place in 2004, combining efforts from activist groups to highlight environmental and social issues. Since then, similar events have been staged in cities around the world, with Philadelphia’s edition now considered one of the larger rides in North America.
