Grease the Poles: Registration Is Now Open for the 3rd Annual Red Bull Championship Run Hosted by Mr. Hollywood DJ

The competition involves competitors racing up a greased telephone pole in an effort to grab a flag before advancing to the next round. Competitors who fail to capture the flag are eliminated from that round. Organizers describe the event as a test of speed, balance and determination.

Over the past two years, the event has featured appearances from Philly sports figures, including Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl champions Brandon Graham and Beau Allen, as well as 76ers alum Marc Jackson.

This year’s event will include appearances from 76ers DJ Ghost and mascot Franklin, Flyers in-arena host Mr. Hollywood DJ, and Red Bull athlete Guenther Oka. 76ers national anthem singer Joi is scheduled to perform the national anthem to open the event. Organizers said additional participants will be announced at a later date.

Now in its third year, Red Bull Championship Run has become an annual summer event in Philadelphia. According to organizers, the 2025 edition drew approximately 2,000 spectators to the waterfront.

Registration and Attendance

Registration to compete costs $29 and is open now at redbull.com/champrunphilly. The event is free to attend for spectators. Additional details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
