Flyers’ Garnet Hathaway Teams Up With Dogfish Head to Launch Engine 19 IPA in Support of First Responders

Philadelphia Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway has partnered with Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and Flyers Charities to launch Engine 19 IPA, a citrus-forward pale ale brewed to benefit local first responders and their families. The collaboration supports Hath’s Heroes, the initiative Hathaway co-founded with his wife, Lindsay, dedicated to recognizing and assisting first responders in the community.

Engine 19 IPA was developed over the course of a year, combining Dogfish Head’s off-centered brewing style with Hathaway’s vision of creating a beer that not only tastes good but also makes an impact. The result is a 6.5% ABV pale ale brewed with Simcoe, Chinook, and Citra hops, delivering aromas of pine and citrus with notes of passion fruit, toffee, and biscuit.

“Lindsay and I are beyond thrilled for Engine 19 to finally hit the shelves,” said Hathaway. “This isn’t just a beer, it’s a way to support the people who show up for our communities day in and day out. Bringing this to life with Dogfish Head and Flyers Charities has been an incredible journey.”

Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer Sam Calagione described the collaboration as a natural fit. “It’s been a blast working with Garnet and Lindsay and the Flyers Charities team. Together, we’ve crafted one heck of a beer that not only tastes good, but it does good,” he said, highlighting the brewery’s long-standing commitment to giving back through its Beer & Benevolence program.

Flyers Charities Chair Blair Listino added that Engine 19 IPA is an example of creative fundraising that ties directly to the team’s commitment to community impact. “Garnet brought this idea to us with a clear passion for supporting first responders and making a difference through Hath’s Heroes. To see it come to life with Dogfish Head has been incredible.”

To celebrate the release, Flyers Charities and Dogfish Head will host an official launch party on Wednesday, September 10, at the PHS Beer Garden on South Street from 6 to 8 p.m. Free and open to the public, the event will feature Engine 19 IPA samples, Flyers raffle items, and appearances by Flyers players and personalities.

Engine 19 IPA will be available next month in draft and 6-pack/12oz cans throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware, as well as at Flyers home games while supplies last. Fans can also locate the beer using Dogfish Head’s Fish Finder tool.

For fans curious about the collaboration process, the Flyers’ in-house content team, On the Fly Productions, has released “Engine 19: Behind the Beer,” a behind-the-scenes video chronicling the project from early taste tests to packaging and community outreach. The feature is available on the Philadelphia Flyers Official YouTube Channel.
