Encanto Kicks & Coffee is Opening in Fishtown Offering Sneakers as Well as Puerto Rican Coffee & Pastries

If you’re a sneakerhead, you know there’s certain feeling you get when shopping for new kicks. The nostalgic sensation you felt as a kid every time you step into a fresh pair never gets old. However, for coffeeheads, especially Boricuas there’s something magical and also nostalgic about the smell and taste of Puerto Rican coffee. Now a local entrepreneur has just fused the two worlds and created a shop that sells both sneakers and Puerto Rican coffee and pasties.

Encanto Kicks & Coffee (2011 E. Norris St.) is having a soft opening Wednesday March 13th. Doors will open bright and early at 7 am and guests will be greeted with plenty of, you guessed it coffee & kicks. The space seats 18-25 guests and will feature up to 240 pairs of kicks including grails (for my follow sneakerheads out there).  In case you were wondering, Encanto does not operate as a consignment shop but they do offer competitive resale pricing.  Aside from kicks, Encanto Kicks & Coffee also offers apparel.

This vision of merging these two worlds is the brainchild of owner Louis Quiles who started in the sneaker world at a very young age. “Since childhood, sneakers have held a special place in my heart. As a young 9th grader, I turned my passion into a business, selling kicks to fund my own collection. But my interests don’t stop there – I also have a love for coffee. By combining my two passions, I have found the perfect blend. Not only am I able to indulge in both of my favorite things, but I am also able to share my Puerto Rican culture with the community around me,” Louis states.

As for what guests can look forward to, Louis added,”Guest can look forward to stepping into a vibrant and inviting space filled with lively colors that will instantly uplift your spirits. Our space will be filled with board games, book club, dope clothing, kicks, great coffee, and delicious Puerto Rican pastries.”

Coffee lovers will be happy to know that Encanto will be serving Puerto Rican coffee imported strait from the island. Other options include cappuccino, latte, matcha latte, chai latte, as well as iced options.

The name Encanto is a play off of Puerto Rico’s nickname “La Isla del Encanto,”, which translates to”The Island of Enchantment.” Encanto Kicks & Coffee will be open Monday-Friday 7 am – 5pm, and Saturday 8 am – 5 pm.
