Did You Know There’s a Cookbook Club? This Month, Guests Will Make & Share Dishes from ‘Vietnam: The Cookbook
Philly foodies will have the chance to cook, share, and explore the flavors of Vietnam during Philly Cooks A Book: Vietnam: The Cookbook, a community cookbook club gathering taking place March 29 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The event will be hosted at The People’s Gallery Project (1034 Pine Street) and invites participants to prepare a recipe from the featured cookbook and bring it along to share with fellow attendees.
Philly Cooks A Book takes the familiar concept of a book club and flips it into a hands-on culinary experience. Instead of discussing a novel, participants choose a recipe from the featured cookbook, cook it at home, and bring their dish to the gathering for a communal meal.
The result is a potluck-style event where guests can sample a wide variety of dishes from a single cuisine while meeting fellow food enthusiasts.
The March gathering will focus on Vietnam: The Cookbook by Anais Ca Dao Van Manen, a comprehensive collection featuring more than 400 authentic Vietnamese recipes.
The book highlights both well-known favorites and lesser-known regional specialties, covering everything from:
- Fresh spring rolls
- Salads and sandwiches
- Stir-fries and noodle dishes
- Rice plates and desserts
- Traditional sauces and pickles
Recipes in the cookbook are organized by preparation style and draw from the author’s extensive research throughout Vietnam.
Participants will sign up for a specific recipe in advance and bring their prepared dish to share. Organizers send recipe photos and details each week to help attendees prepare.
Guests should bring:
- Their prepared dish
- A serving utensil
- Tupperware for leftovers
- An optional non-alcoholic drink
- Plates, napkins, and utensils will be provided.
Registration is required and link is available at @phillycooksabook bio.
