Best Places in Philadelphia to Eat Late Night
Cheesesteaks are a gift and a curse for Philadelphians. On one hand who doesn’t love a gooey cheesesteak to clog the old arteries at 3 am. However, the truth is most Philadelphians tend to indulge in other delicacies after leaving nightlife establishments, which is why this list does not contain any cheesesteak spots. Although options can be limited during late night hours, several gems keep local Philadelphians coming back night after night, or should I say morning after morning. Here are the Best Places in Philadelphia to Eat Late Night
Little Pete’s
219 S 17th St
Open 24/7
When most people think of 24 hour diners they think highway truck stops or a spot out in the burbs. Little Pete’s shatters that stereo type by keeping their doors open 24 hours smack-dap in the middle of Center City. Offering a traditional diner menu, where breakfast can be purchased all day, Little Pete’s is actually a big deal for party goers who frequent downtown bars and lounges. This place can become so packed on the weekends that many people tend to call ahead and take their food to go. Either dining in or taking out Little Pete’s is a weekend ritual for many.
Melrose Diner
1501 Snyder Ave
Open 24/7
True South Philadelphians can appreciate this selection. In an area of the city where late night cheesesteak spots reign supreme, Melrose has etched their rightful place in the hearts of Philadelphians. This place is easy to find and easier to appreciate. This no frills diner gives you the classic diner experience 24 hours a day. However, as this article’s theme suggests, Melrose is always on the short list of places local Philadelphians love to eat at.
Lorenzo’s Pizza
305 South St
Sun. Closed
Mon.-Thurs. 11 am – 3 am
Fri. & Sat. 11 am- 4 am
If its one thing Philly does well it’s pizza. Philly’s incredible pizza selection often times gets overshadowed by the cult-like following of the cheesesteak. If you were to ask any Philadelphian what their top 5 favorite pizza places are, chances are high Lorenzo’s is always at the top. Their popularity grows exponentially during the late night hours on the weekends. Open until 4 am Friday’s and Saturdays, it is not uncommon to see a line wrapping around the corner of this South St. establishment. Lorenzo’s is no frills, in fact the only time you can get toppings is on Tuesdays. Plain slices fly out of this place like nobody’s business. Keep in mind their slices are bigger than your face.
David’s Mai Lai Wah
1001 Race St
Sun.-Thurs. 11:30 am-3 am
Fri. & Sat. 11:30 am-4 am
Off the bat we have to say David’s salt & pepper wings are stuff of legends. You can find many Chinese restaurants open late night but there is only one David’s. Located in the heart of Chinatown, David’s is where the locals flock to in order to get their Asian cuisine fix. Boasting an extensive menu even late night, the large food portions will put you in a food coma in no time. When you talk about late night Chinese food to Philly foodies, they always undoubtedly pay homage to David’s.
Pennrose Diner
2016 Penrose Ave
BONUS SPOT!
Calle Del Sabor Food Truck
Frankford & Girard

Fri. & Sat. 9 pm-3:30 (sometimes 4 am)
Although our list was dedicated to the top 5 brick and mortar spots, we decided to give you guys a bonus spot. Calle Del Sabor is one of our personal favorite food trucks in the city. Open late on weekends, they can be found on the corner of Frankford & Girard. Calle boasts a flavorful menu including my favorite, the Korean pork tacos. Tacos & burritos are game changers when intoxicated. Calle’s ingredients are fresh and the flavors robust, they will have you driving to Northern Liberties late night, even sober. Follow these guys on twitter and stay up to speed on times and locations as they frequently update their social media pages.
