The South Philly Book Crawl is Back For the Holiday Season With Stops at South Street’s Best Bookstores
Looking to do some holiday shopping, why not give the gift of literature? Just in time for the holiday season the South Philly Book Crawl returns for two days this December.
Curated by Pier Players Theatre Company as part of their fundraising efforts, the crawl will make stops at several bookstores along the South Street corridor and will double as a history tour. Taking place on December 21st & 22nd, bookworms attending the crawl will have a chance to peruse stores including Mostly Books, Garland of Letters Bookstore, Headhouse Books, Atomic Comics, and more to be announced.
Each tour starts at 12 pm and guests will get to enjoy stories about notable literary figures “who trod these same cobblestones, and learn fun facts about the bookstores you’ll be browsing.” Led by veteran tour guide Julianne Kastner of Pier Players, attendees will also get a chance to peruse stores and discover some literary treasures in the process.
As stated, this book crawl is also a fundraiser for the upcoming Pier Players with all proceeds going to support their theater company; anything you buy along the book crawl will directly support the bookstores themselves. This is a great way to support the arts, small businesses, meet fellow bookworms, as well as find a great book in the process. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased here.
