The All Love Block Party Returns with Live Music, Art, Food, and a Marketplace Featuring 20+ Vendors

What started in 2017 as a way to connect Temple Students with the surrounding residents as since evolved into a block party that encompasses all of Philly while shining a spotlight on its artistic community. The All Love Block Party returns on July 20th from 3:00pm – 9:00pm at  One Art and will take place at the Community Center (1431-39 N 52nd Street).

The All Love Block Party is now presented by the Sync Production Group and its co-founders Melvin Powell and Saleem “Brotha Taaj” Sabree and will feature a marketplace with 20+ vendors, plenty of food, and entertainment for all.

“Nothing embodies the spirit of Philadelphia quiet like a block party. As experienced event professionals we wanted to bring a festival-like atmosphere to the street. By working with One Art Community Center and the City of Philadelphia, we will be shutting down Warren Street and activating this unique urban oasis. Attendees will be greeted with food, live art activations and our vendor marketplace featuring over 20+ local black owned brands. As they make their way into One Art Community Center they can check out our non-profit resources, live photo activations and experiences in One Art’s garden, visit the bar or hit the dance floor,” states Brother Taaj.

“The All Love Block Party, the flagship event of Black Soul Summer, is our testament to creative independence. All Love aims to create a joyous, outdoor festival experience for the community, free of charge. Each year, we strive to foster a sense of belonging as we celebrate the arts together,” Taaj added.

This year’s theme is all about showcasing event organizers who have created positive spaces in Philadelphia’s creative economy through music, art and collaboration and include:

BACKSTORY

The inaugural All Love Block Party took place on the 1700 block of N Randolph Street on Saturday, July 15th 2017. At the time, Sync Production Group founders Melvin Powell and Saleem “Brotha Taaj” Sabree wanted to create a new block party similar to the one’s they had produced during their time at Temple University. While Brotha Taaj worked for Temple’s radio station the duo hosted 4 block parties in North Philadelphia from 2012-2013 they had as a way to connect the Temple Students with the surrounding residents in the neighborhood. After connecting with rapper Asher Roth they organized a lineup that featured Chuck Inglish, Chynna Rogers, DJ Aktive, DJ Sylo and with the help of local brands organized the first block party.
