The Philadelphia Orchestra is Hosting a “Date Night For Lovers” Valentine’s Day Concert Featuring Tango & Flamenco
If you still haven’t made your Valentine’s Day plans, the Philadelphia Orchestra is inviting couples for a night of spicy international music. On February 14th, the Philadelphia Orchestra will host a special Valentine’s Day concert that will feature tango and flamenco.
“It begins with a whirling danzón from Mexico and two daring, dangerous tangos from Argentina. At its heart is a Spanish masterwork for guitar and orchestra, alternating rhythms of flamenco with soaring, achingly beautiful orchestral passages—showcasing an internationally renowned guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas who is hailed for his “virtuosic playing characterized by its vividly shaded colors and irresistible exuberance” (The New York Times). The mesmerizing, irresistible tension and release of Ravel’s Bolero. Tonight, the language of love is Latin,” states the orchestra.
Conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya, the concert will take place in Verizon Hall. Tickets are starting at $29 and can be purchased here.
