Normally, we don’t feature suburban real estate at WooderIce – our focus is your scoop to everything Philly. But when Allen Iverson’s home comes up for sale, we had to tell you about it. The address: 800 Chateau Lane, Villanova, Pa. 19085. And it’s listing for far, far less than The Answer paid for it. Back then, Iverson bought this nearly 13,000-square-foot mansion for $5 million. His fortunes in real estate were similar to those of the Sixers of late: seven years later, he sold the home for only $2.6 million.
The home has recovered a bit of its value – but only a tiny bit: it’s on the market now for $2.75 million. What you get for that $2.75m is a lot, though. For starters, this mansion has a nearly 2:1 bathroom-to-bedroom ratio – five bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a half bath for good measure. Neither its new owner or any guests should have to wait for someone to exit the toilet. There are plenty of other eye-popping features in this home, including a two-story-high reception hall, a living room with 20-foot-high ceilings, a master suite with vaulted ceilings, fireplace and his-and-hers bathrooms as well as closets, and a second-floor “apartment” with its own separate entrance. And that only begins to scratch the surface. With all this, it might just be a steal for $2.75 million.
