MergeArts Took Over Coda With The Merge, Here’s Your Official Recap

If you were around for last month’s The Merge presented by MergeArts, then you most likely remembered a pretty sick show that had every medium of arts.  Last week’s show was equally impressive with a handful of live acts as well as several visual artists, fashion designers, and beauty industry pros that all presented their crafts for attendees to enjoy.

Coda (1712 Walnut St.) laid the backdrop for this hodgepodge of artists to showcase their skills.  What was once strictly a nightclub has been transformed into a hybrid space of concert hall and lounge, the ideal spot for MergeArts to set up shop.

Although, the political protests did hinder the attendance slightly, there was still plenty of onlookers eager to see what some of Philly’s best and brightest up-and-comers had to offer. The ambiance was set by one of Philly’s nicest DJ’s on the 1’s & 2’s, Mr. DJ Ghost himself.  In between his flawless cuts and blends, guests were treated to some pretty dope bands including Siravo, Working Class Villains, and the melodic sister duo Danielle & Jennifer. If these acts were any indication of Philly’s growing music scene then be very excited.

For those that wondered the swanky corridors of Coda, they were introduced to an array of talented visual artists, each with their own style.  Ivben Taqiy who is no stranger to Wooder Ice (see Interview here) was in attendance showcasing and entertaining folks who seem to gather pretty frequently at his set-up.  Other artists exhibiting their masterpieces included Don Scott who’s mixed-media flair blends hip hop with paint, Gabe Tiberino who hails from a family of talented artists as well as Kynn Peterkin, Jmetz Fine Art, and Christie Hunt among others.  As most of these artists held center court in the lower level, upstairs guests were left floored by the visually stunning photography of Kyle Ober.

When guests weren’t gazing at the plethora of art adorning the walls, the fashion houses took over the joint as a full size runway was custom made just for this event. A collaborative of hair designers, make-up artists, and of course stylists put on an amazing show.  The beauty tech liaisons of the app ManeStreem were also in attendance showing just how seamless their product works.

All-in-all The Merge presented by MergeArts is a perfect microcosm of Philly’s abundant art and beauty seen. With tons of budding entrepreneurs looking to leave their mark on the world, The Merge provides the perfect platform for their future global dominance.  Check out the video to see just what you missed!
