10 of the Philly’s Top Latino Chefs Will Be Competing in Cantina La Martina’s 3rd Annual Tamalada
Love tamales? Here’s your chance to enjoy amazing tamales, many of which you have never tasted before because 10 of Philly’s top Latino chefs will be participating in Catina La Martina’s 3rd Annual Tamalada taking place at their restaurant located at 2800 D St.
Tamalada is hosted in honor of La Candelaria, a Mexican tradition that marks the official close of the holiday season. It is also a playful “payback day” for those who found the figurine in their Rosca de Reyes cake, as they are traditionally expected to host a gathering with tamales and atole. Every year, Cantina La Martina turns that intimate party amongst family and friends into a big celebration and extends the invitation to the community.
This year’s Tamalada will take place on February 2nd from 11 am to 4 pm in the outside heated tent and will offer unique and delicious tamales for sale from participating chefs. Specialty drinks from Cantina la Martina will also be available for purchase throughout the event. Tamalada is free to attend and all food and drinks are pay-as-you-go, and some vendors will be cash only (an ATM will be available on-site). Tamales are $5 each.
