Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition Is Opening at The Franklin Institute, Featuring Authentic Costumes, Immersive Sets, Props, and More
Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition makes its world premiere at The Franklin Institute on February 14, offering an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at the immersive worlds created by Universal Destinations & Experiences. Developed in partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal, the exhibition pulls back the curtain on the innovation, engineering, and storytelling that power some of the most iconic attractions in themed entertainment.
This exhibition celebrates the creative legacy behind Universal’s legendary attractions — from the world-famous Studio Tour to the highly anticipated Universal Epic Universe. For the first time, guests will be able to experience an insider’s perspective on how blockbuster stories are transformed into fully realized theme park environments.
Visitors can expect:
-
Authentic artifacts, costumes, and props
-
Immersive set recreations
-
Behind-the-scenes creative development insights
-
A deep dive into the science and technology behind attractions
Rather than simply showcasing memorabilia, the exhibition explores the creative process itself — from concept art and engineering breakthroughs to the world-building that makes guests feel like they’ve stepped directly into their favorite cinematic universes.
“Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition is a trailblazing concept that pulls back the curtain on an industry that entertains and thrills millions,” said Larry Dubinski, President and CEO of The Franklin Institute. “The exhibition reveals the science, innovation, and creativity in some of the most epic experiences in themed entertainment.”
It’s a natural fit for The Franklin Institute, a museum known for exploring the intersection of science, technology, and culture. By spotlighting how engineering, robotics, ride systems, and digital innovation power immersive storytelling, the exhibit aligns perfectly with the museum’s mission to inspire curiosity and discovery.
Comcast NBCUniversal sees the exhibition as a reflection of its broader commitment to creativity and connection.
“At Comcast NBCUniversal, we believe that creativity, technology, and connection can transform bold ideas into unforgettable experiences,” said Dalila Wilson-Scott, EVP and Chief Impact & Inclusion Officer, Comcast. “Through our partnership with The Franklin Institute, Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition celebrates the remarkable innovation of Universal Destinations & Experiences with Philadelphia in an inspiring way.”
