Science After Hours: Celestial Sips Returns with Cosmic Cocktails, Stargazing, and Interactive Art Workshops

The Franklin Institute is closing out the year with an immersive night of science, history, spirits, and celestial exploration. Science After Hours: Celestial Sips returns on December 5, , from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m, offering adults an evening dedicated to Repeal Day, astronomy, craft cocktails, and hands-on discovery.

Guests can raise a glass to the end of Prohibition while experiencing one of the museum’s most anticipated after-hours events. Tickets are $40 or $35 for Franklin Institute Members, and each ticket includes access to all museum exhibits and galleries, featured programming, and a limited-edition lapel pin created exclusively for the night. Attendees will also have access to the museum’s roof deck, where facilitated stargazing by telescope will take place, weather permitting.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase through Seravezza Events, with bar stations located throughout the museum. The evening promises a blend of history and spectacle as guests explore science demonstrations, local distillery offerings, live music, interactive activities, and captivating Planetarium experiences.

Step inside the Fels Planetarium with Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts and musician Keegan Tawa, who will guide guests on a cosmic storytelling experience set to sound and visuals.

Test your knowledge and compete for prizes in a trivia session designed for the endlessly curious.

Dance Inspired by the Harlem Renaissance
Hit the dance floor with a DJ set from Bobby Flowers, featuring curated selections of R&B, House, Hip-Hop, Disco, and global rhythmic sounds.

A Special Release from Wissahickon Brewing
Sip a selection of craft beverages, including the premiere of Amber Waves of Space, brewed exclusively for Celestial Sips.

Cosmic Art with Asian Arts Initiative
Create hand-printed artwork using carved blocks inspired by the night sky and celestial motifs.

Planetarium DJ Set
Experience a special performance by Occasional Sound & Music Service, featuring music from Pandemonium inside the Fels Planetarium.

Hands-On Science Experiences
Interact with scientific demonstrations and experiments presented by the Penn Soft Earth Dynamics Lab (PennSED) and the Monell Chemical Senses Center.
