The World Oddities Expo is Coming to Philly and Features Taxidermy Classes, Tattooing, Burlesque Shows, Vendors & More

If you have a curiosity for the strange and unusual, then this event should peak your curiosity.  On April 16th World Oddities Expo Presents The Lost Curio at 23rd Street Armory (22 South 23rd St.), an event filled with unique vendors, entertainers and hands-on workshops.

The Lost Curio will feature a slew of vendors with items such as mounted animals, animal skulls, jewelry. weapons, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and more. In addition to the vendors, The Lost Curio will also have tattoo artists on-hand as part of their “Oddity Ink Parlour Powered by Villain Arts,” where guests can get tatted onsite.

If you’re looking to really immerse yourself in the world of oddity, there will be a variety of hands-on workshops including an insect pinning class where participants will pin and frame their own specimen to create a one of a kind keepsake.  In addition there will be an owl pellet dissecting as well as a taxidermy class.

For entertainment you can expect eye-popping performances from Skynthesis Suspensio with live human suspensions, the Divine Hand Ensemble which will play classical opera arias as well as Hexwork Burleque which features a gothic take on on the dance artform.

To top things off The Lost Curio will also present “WOE Theatre” with a taxidermy discussion with collector J.D Powe.  WOE Theatre will also feature “Wet Specimen Preservation,” where the president of the Philadelphia Herpetological Society showcases and dicusses we the techniques used to preserve zoological specimens in jars.
