4th Annual Philly Black Wine & Spirits Fest Returns With a Special ‘From Bourbon Street to Broad Street’ Theme
The 4th Annual Philly Black Wine & Spirits Fest will take place at Girard College on September 12. The event is presented by Kabila Events and features wine and spirits tastings, music, art and a marketplace centered on Black culture and community.
This year’s theme, “From Bourbon Street to Broad Street,” draws on New Orleans and Mardi Gras influences. Organizers are encouraging attendees to dress in purple, green and gold, accented with black or cream.
The festival is produced by Kabila Events, a name derived from the Swahili word for “tribe.” According to organizers, the name reflects the festival’s focus on bringing people together around shared culture and experiences.
The festival will include unlimited wine and spirits tastings from a range of brands, along with live DJs and performances, art installations, interactive photo experiences, food vendors and a marketplace featuring local businesses.
Sonia “Sunny” Blount, creator of the Philly Black Wine & Spirits Fest and founder of Kabila Events, said the event is intended to center and celebrate Black wine lovers, distillers, entrepreneurs and creatives. “This festival is about more than what’s in your glass,” Blount said, adding that the event was created to give the community space to experience culture and joy together.

- General Sips: 3 p.m. (general admission)
Guests can expect wine and spirits sampling, live DJs and entertainment, art and photo installations, food vendors, a local vendor marketplace, and early access for VIP ticket holders.
