Chef Eli Kulp and the Delicious City Philly Podcast team will host the second annual Hoagie Throwdown on Sunday, September 27, from noon to 4 p.m. at Other Half Brewing, located at 1002 Canal Street in Fishtown. The event is co-hosted by radio producer Marisa Magnatta and food influencer Dave Wez, known online as @FeedingTimeTV.

More than 20 regional chefs, restaurants, delis and sandwich makers will compete to create what organizers describe as Philly’s favorite hoagie. Admission includes a complimentary beer or soft drink, along with unlimited hoagie samples. Attendees will vote throughout the day to determine the People’s Choice Hoagie Champion, with the winner receiving the Hoagie Throwdown Championship Belt. Tickets can be purchased at deliciouscity.ticketspice.com/hoagie-throwdown-2026

In addition to the food competition, the event will include live professional wrestling from Pro Wrestling Entertainment and BTA. Social media personality Luigi Primo is scheduled to defend his title against Griffin McCoy, following a 2025 match in which Primo defeated McCoy.

The event will also feature craft beer from Other Half Brewing, along with music, merchandise and giveaways.

“Everyone thinks they know what a great hoagie is until they come to Hoagie Throwdown,” said Kulp. He said last year’s event featured reinvented takes on the hoagie from some of Philadelphia’s top chefs, and said this year’s competition aims to build on that.

Organizers expect the event to draw approximately 500 attendees, following the turnout of the inaugural Hoagie Throwdown. A total of 500 tickets will be available, with early-bird pricing of $55 for the first 50 tickets sold. The full list of participating restaurants, judges, sponsors and special guests, along with ticket purchasing information, is available on the event’s ticketing page.
