The Wanamaker Building Will Be Transformed Into a Holiday Market Featuring 30 Local Makers and Its Iconic Light Show

The holidays in Philadelphia will shine even brighter this year with the debut of Shops at The Wanamaker Light Show, a new indoor market presented by the organizers of Christmas Village in Philadelphia in partnership with the Philadelphia Visitor Center Corporation. Opening on  Black Friday November 28, this new addition will transform the Grand Court of the historic Wanamaker Building into a festive shopping destination filled with artisan vendors, seasonal treats, and local craftsmanship — all set beneath the glow of the iconic Wanamaker Light Show, one of Philadelphia’s most beloved holiday traditions.

The Shops at The Wanamaker Light Show will feature 30 curated local makers offering everything from hand-crafted jewelry and home décor to gourmet foods, artwork, and festive gifts. Shoppers can browse while surrounded by the sounds and sights of the Wanamaker Light Show, where more than 100,000 twinkling LED lights dance in rhythm with holiday music, accompanied by the legendary Wanamaker Organ.

Dr. Thomas Bauer, organizer of Christmas Village in Philadelphia, shared his enthusiasm for the new market:

“When we heard about the Philadelphia Visitor Center’s initiative to bring the Light Show back, we didn’t think twice — we were happy to be part of this effort. Artists, designers, and crafters will fill the space with life beyond the Light Show hours and offer unique gifts and art in a heated space of traditional Philadelphia holiday enjoyment.”

The new indoor market offers a cozy escape for visitors exploring Center City’s outdoor festivities. Whether guests are looking to warm up with a cup of cocoa, find a unique handmade gift, or enjoy the glow of the Light Show indoors, this addition brings new energy and comfort to a beloved Philly landmark.
