The Northern Liberties Monster Mash Bloody Mary Challenge is Back With Over 14 Participating Restaurants

Bartenders were working in their restaurants late one night, when from their bars to their streeteries they beheld an eerie sight. The city’s top Bloody Mary began to rise, and suddenly to their surprise the top foodie neighborhood did the mash. Neighbors and visitors are doing the Monster Mash. The Northern Liberties Bloody Mary Challenge will be a true spooky-season smash. With tons of great brunch spots all in a row, the competition caught on in a bacon-infused flash!

From restaurants lining North Second Street and even Jerry’s to the East, one by one from Urban Village and El Camino, did the vampires crave a feast. With Figo and Anejo showcasing their humble abodes, the neighborhood will get a jolt from the winner’s red-hot electrodes.

Zombies over 21 will be having tons of fun, but as the locals know brunch season has only just begun. The scene has been rockin’ with vibes off the chart, and as sweater weather takes over remember to tip well and then depart. Guests will include Wolfman, Dracula and anyone in your COVID pod. No matter who you bring, though, don’t forget masks (or vax cards, as requested) for everyone in your squad.

Northern Liberties Business Improvement District is doing the Monster Mash. This second annual event is a not-so-spooky Halloween smash. Look for garnish, bacon, hot sauce and pickles too. Get ready for a twist on the Bloody Mary unlike any you ever knew.

Monster Mash: Northern Liberties Bloody Mary Challenge is set for Saturday, October 9th through Sunday, October 17th 2021, with select restaurants participating on weekends only. This unique event will help restaurants continue to recover with an idea that is fun and brand new. Make a brunch reservation and get ready to vote for the winner. Don’t forget to order delicious food with your drink, and come back another day for night time dinner.

Northern Liberties Business Improvement District, with sponsor Stateside Vodka, presents the Monster Mash with help and support from each participating restaurant and bar. Each eatery will feature one themed Bloody Mary as they compete head-to-head in this fun and light-hearted neighborhood spar.

Participating competitors will include the following, While there can be just one winner, the other restaurants will be wallowing. They are all doing the Monster Mash. Come and join them in the new Northern Liberties Monster Mash:

Anejo Philadelphia – The Green Goblin
This cocktail bleeds green with a house-made base of tomatillos, cucumber, yellow tomato, jalapeno, hot sauce, horseradish, worcestershire, celery seed, salt & pequin pepper. Featuring agave vodka with bacon-washed Creyente Mezcal.

Cantina Dos Segundos – Brujah’s Brew
Those who seek a drink born from fire, look no further than this spicy and tangy Mary built on a pyre of roasted tomatillo, green tomato, roasted peppers, and finished with a kick of citrus.

Bourbon & Branch – Hail Mary
Jersey fresh tomato, horseradish, black pepper infused vodka, cajun spice, coconut aminos, garnished with Pizza Gutt pan pizza, onion rings, chicken tenders, pepperoni, buttermilk ranch and a pickled long hot.

El Camino Real – Two drinks
Everything is Bigger in Texas with House-Made Bloody Mary Mix, Vodka, Candied Bacon, Fried Chicken Slider, Pickled Jalapenos, Poached Shrimp

Bloody Mary’s Revenge with Ghost Chili and Horseradish Bloody Mary Mix, Jalapeno Infused Vodka, Radish Eyeballs, Purple Fingers, Ghost Chili Spiced Rim.

Figo Ristorante (brand new) – Discendenza
Grappa, Roma tomato, horseradish, Calabrian chile, Genovese basil.

Germantown Garden – Green Monster
Stateside Vodka, Tomatillo, wasabi, green tabasco, lime, cumin.

Germantown Garden Grille – Fegadero
Blanco tequila, tomato juice, horseradish, sriracha, lemon, Bacon, Tiny’s Burger Joint slider.

Jerry’s Bar – The Devil Jerry
Perched atop to-die-for deviled eggs, The Devil Jerry takes shape with red pepper, pepperoncini, a gherkin pickle and grape tomatoes. Served on a flashing chilled cauldron of ice with blood red salt rim and stuffed olives.

North 3rd – Monster Mary
A neighborhood favorite for 20 years, North 3rd’s special spin on a classic is their house-made vegan buffalo sauce.

SET NoLibs – Bloody Sriracha Mary
A combination of SET’s Thai Thai Sriracha Wing sauce and Bloody Mary mash with some spooky surprises.

Silk City– Silk Backyard Bloody
Blending the flavors of Stateside Vodka and Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur, this Bloody is perfect for lounging in their Garden. Garnished with shrimp, celery, and bacon, you can enjoy surf and turf without shore traffic.

Standard Tap – Twisted Mary Burn in H E Double Hockey Sticks – this Bloody is the demonic spawn of an unholy crossing of the chiles of the netherworld and tormented Stateside spirits.

UV’s house bloody mix, with a dash of witches’ brew: activated charcoal, oatmeal stout, house fermented sriracha and Stateside Vodka infused with smoked bacon, garnished of course with a whole prawn.
