The Liberty Bell, Love Park Sign, and Bebot? Yes, Philly Now Has a New Landmark!
So we’ve been getting hit up from our followers asking what the hell is that huge thing in Northern Liberties. If you’ve been passed The Piazza (Schmidt’s Commons) recently then you’ve seen this massive wired structure that looks like a Teletubby. Well this 33 ft. tall sculpture is pretty well known and it’s now sitting in Philly.
The sculpture’s name is Bebot and it’s the brainchild of London-based artist Andrea Greenless. Bebot was constructed for the world famous Burning Man Festival out in Black Rock Desert of Nevada. Bebot consists of over 13,000 and takes a sizable crew to pack up and haul it across country to where it now sits on Germantown Ave. behind the Piazza. It took three trucks for Bebot to be transported from the balmy deserts of Nevada to the friged streets of Philly.
Greenless has openly expressed her desire for Bebot to stay in Philly but it’s not currently know if he’s going to be a visitor or just passing through. If Bebot does become a Philly resident, we’re going to have to find a big ass Eagles jersey to fit it.
