In celebration of Women’s History Month and the upcoming Bold Women & Beer Festival, prominent women of Philadelphia’s beer industry and members of the local Chapter of the Pink Boots Society, are coming together for a collaborative brew day at Triple Bottom Brewing on March 5.

The collaborative brew will be available at Pink Boots breweries and taprooms as well as the Bold Women & Beer Festival on May 16 at Love City Brewing. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Pink Boots Society – Philadelphia Area Chapter Scholarship Fund. The festival will be 1-6 pm. The event will boast food trucks, live music, and over 40 breweries from Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

“We are thrilled to be bringing together this group of talented women for the second year of the Bold Women and Beer Festival and for another collaborative brew day,” said Erin Wallace, the co-founder of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Pink Boots Society. “We can’t wait to pull on our pink boots, break open the hops, and get to brewing one of the best beers of the year!”

The main brew day will take place at Triple Bottom Brewing with the creation of Hetty Reckless, a Belgian Enkle Style, also known as a Belgian Single or Table beer. A lower ABV version of a style of beer monk’s serve at monasteries, the Hetty Reckless will be 4.5% – 5% ABV and will be brewed with the Yakima Chief Pink Boots Hop Blend.

Yakima Chief Pink Boots Hop Blend is created every year at the Pink Boots National Meeting at the Great American Beer Festival where Pink Boots members from around the country get together and select the type of hops for the blend. This year’s version contains Loral, Idaho Gem, Azacca and El Dorado. A portion of sales from the hop blend is donated to Pink Boots.

The name of the brew, Hetty Reckless, comes from a famous Philadelphian. She was an abolitionist, activist and escape slave who ran a safe house on the Underground Railroad and a shelter for women in the 1800s.

Additional Women’s History Month collaborative brews will take place at:

  • Axe and Arrow Brewery – New Jersey
  • Braeloch Brewing – Kennett Square
  • Cape May Brewing – Cape May, New Jersey
