Love City Brewing Hosts “Tour de Love City,” a Charitable Bike Ride Benefiting Neighborhood Bike Works

Love City Brewing will host Tour de Love City, a charitable bike ride, on August 23. The ride begins at the brewery’s flagship Callowhill location, 1023 Hamilton St., and concludes approximately eight miles away at the newly opened Love City Manayunk taproom, 4323 Main St. All proceeds from ticket sales, priced at $25 per person before tax, will benefit Neighborhood Bike Works, a West Philadelphia nonprofit that provides equitable access to bicycling and bike repair for area youth and communities. Tickets are available here.

The event is scheduled one week ahead of the Philadelphia Cycling Classic and was created as a lighthearted nod to that race.

Ticketholders can check in at Love City’s Callowhill location between noon and 3 p.m. on the day of the ride. Riders will then travel at their own pace to Love City Manayunk, with the route primarily following the Kelly Drive trail. Riders must check in at the Manayunk location by 7 p.m. to take part in an afterparty featuring a DJ, beer specials and bike vendors, which runs until 8 p.m.

Melissa Walter, co-founder of Love City Brewing, said the ride reflects both the brewery’s focus on beer and its commitment to community involvement. She said the collaboration with Neighborhood Bike Works aligns with the organization’s goal of expanding equitable access to biking in Philadelphia.

Upon completing the ride and presenting their ticket at Love City Manayunk, participants will receive a medal along with a choice of one free beer — including the Love City Lager, Eraserhood IPA, or the limited-release Dream Build West Coast Pilsner — or a non-alcoholic beverage, such as the Low-Key Non-Alcoholic Golden Ale or Low-Key Non-Alcoholic IPA. Additional beverages and barbecue fare from on-site food partner Sophie’s BBQ will be available for purchase during the event.

Ticketholders will also be entered into a raffle, with additional raffle tickets available for purchase. Prizes include Love City merchandise, such as T-shirts, tanks, hats and koozies, along with bike-related prizes from Kayuh Bicycles and Trek Bicycle Philadelphia Manayunk. Trek will also offer complimentary basic safety checks, covering items such as brakes, shifting and tires, in the two weeks leading up to the ride; any necessary adjustments or replacement parts will incur an additional charge.

Love City Manayunk will also host a watch party for the Philadelphia Cycling Classic on August 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. During the race, the taproom and Sophie’s BBQ will operate under special hours, offering coffee, beer-mosas, Bloody Marys and specialty breakfast sandwiches. The brewery’s first- and second-floor windows will offer views of the race as it passes by.

Love City Brewing regularly hosts fundraising and community events throughout the year, including the We Dissent Market during Women’s History Month, Pride celebrations, and monthly fundraisers.
