The 4th Annual RoxYunk Porchfest Will Feature 50+ Live Performances Across Manayunk and Roxborough
The sounds of local music will once again fill the streets of Roxborough and Manayunk as the Fourth Annual RoxYunk Porchfest returns on Saturday, October 11, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (rain date Sunday, October 12). What began as a grassroots effort by neighborhood residents has grown into one of the area’s most anticipated community events, transforming porches, stoops, and storefronts into live music stages.
Porchfest attendees can look forward to an expanded lineup of over 50 porches and performance spaces featuring a wide range of musical genres, including rock, folk, jazz, hip-hop, punk, and more. The event highlights both established bands and up-and-coming local acts, creating a showcase of the community’s diverse music scene.
In addition to private porches, local businesses and nonprofits will also host performances, including L’Angolo Pizzeria, Unity Java on Ridge, St. Timothy’s Church, Roxborough’s Pocket Park, and the Church of the Yunk. The Roxborough Library will exclusively spotlight metal and punk acts for fans of heavier sounds.
Festivities begin the night before with the Porchfest Eve Party on Friday, October 10, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Fat Lady Brewing, featuring live performances by local artists.
On the morning of October 11, the Porchfest Kickoff Party will be held at Fairview Park (4418 Manayunk Avenue) at 11 a.m. Hosted by WHYY’s Jennifer Lynn and State Rep. Tarik Khan, the kickoff will feature live music, treats from Mr. Softee, a charity bake sale benefiting the Roxborough Manayunk Conservancy, and complimentary coffee from Unity Java.
Beyond music, Porchfest offers plenty of community-driven activities. The Roxborough Development Corporation will host a Kid Zone at the Roxborough Pocket Park, featuring family-friendly performances, children’s activities, and entertainment for younger attendees.
Block parties will also be part of the fun, including celebrations on Pechin Street, Gates Street, and Brewery Alley. Attendees can explore yard sales, vendors, and DIY events sprinkled throughout the neighborhood. An official online map will guide visitors to performances and attractions.
Founded by local residents, the RoxYunk Porchfest Committee is dedicated to building community through music and shared cultural experiences. The event is open to anyone within the 19127 and 19128 zip codes, covering the area bounded by Main Street, Dawson Street, Fountain Street, and Ridge Avenue.
“This event is about neighbors coming together to celebrate music, community, and creativity,” organizers said. “Every year, Porchfest grows, and we’re excited to continue creating a space where people can discover new sounds and connect with each other.”
