One of the World’s Top Bars, Hop Sing Laundromat is Reopening This Week
Named one of the world’s top 30 bars by Condé Nast, Hop Sing Laundromat (1029 Race St.) has always had a reputation of not only being a great bar but also kind of tough to get into. In an Instagram post, owner Lê provided a message along with a video announcing the return.
Hop Sing Laundromat which opened back in 2012 has been closed since March of 2020 and remained closed throughout the pandemic. In the video posted, Lê pays tribute to those that passed away during the pandemic as well as the businesses that were lost, stating “For those families who have suffered these irreplaceable and unimaginable losses, we know there are no words that can ease your pain. But please accept our deepest condolences.”
The opening is slated for Thursday September 9th. As always Hope Sing Laundromat operates like a speakeasy where guests wait at the gate and are let in at the discretion of staff and owner. As for the rules, they are still in play. Although, Hop Sing did relax on some of the dress code rules, several strict ones still remain. Their sign reads, “House Rules: No Talking on cell phones beyond this point. No use of photography, video or recording devices of any kind, anywhere or of anything, yourself included. All simpletons found in violation of these rules will be asked to leave immediately. Hours are of operation are Thursday 5 pm -12 am, Friday & Saturday 5 pm – 2 am.
