NJ is Trying to Make Salt Water Taffy the Official State Candy
Our neighbors to the east obviously have pressing issues at hand as a new bill is being looked over to make salt water taffy the official state candy. Made popular in the late 19th century on the boardwalks of Atlantic City, the candy has quickly gained popularity worldwide. Now Jersey is looking to establish the cavity inducing treat as it’s official candy.
Earlier today a group of 5th graders testified in Trenton to speak on the importance of establishing the candy as the official state candy. Their argument was that doing so will increase tourism and revenue needed for the ongoing recovery from Super Storm Sandy.
The bill has now gone to full assembly for review. We will keep you updated on this urgent story as it progresses.
