Building on almost 50 years of uplifting communities through social services and workforce development, Congreso de Latinos Unidos is embracing the creator economy and announcing the launch of its first-ever Influencer Academy, a training for social media influencers created in partnership with Philly-based media powerhouse Wooder Ice Media.

The Influencer Academy will be a comprehensive course designed to equip aspiring and emerging content creators in the Philadelphia community with the real-world tools they need to succeed and monetize their brand. The course will cover building a foundation for your brand, content creation strategies, monetizing your platform, and brand marketing techniques.

To kick things off, Congreso and Wooder Ice Media will host a community workshop previewing the program on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM at Bean2Bean Coffee Company (3451 Edgemont St, Philadelphia). Tickets for the event will be $10 and available at Eventbrite.

The program will be led by the founder of Wooder Ice Media, Hector Nuñez, who is a seasoned content creator, entrepreneur, and cultural connector. “We recognize content creation as a serious career path,” says Nuñez. “Today, being an influencer can be just as lucrative — if not more — than opening a storefront. Congreso already trains people for traditional careers. Why not digital ones too? This could be one of the first programs of its kind.”

“The Influencer Academy gives our community a real chance to earn income and tap into a growing industry,” said Julia Rivera, Congreso’s Chief External Affairs Officer. “We’re also answering a need we’ve heard from marketers across industries — they want to work with influencers but struggle to find trusted, trained talent. This program helps bridge that gap.”
