Mural City Cellars is Opening a New Location With Plenty of Seating, Make Your Own Charcuterie and Classes

You don’t have to be a wine enthusiast to appreciate great locally sourced wine and that is exactly what Mural City Cellars has been producing for the last three years. Now it looks like owners Nicholas Ducos and Francesca Galarus moving their operation fro Olde Kensington to a new space located at 1821 Frankford Avenue in Fishtown.  The wine making duo are slated to open the doors to their new location on March 22nd.

Mural City Cellars new location has been converted from auto-body garage to a wine-making facility as well as a casual wine bar and bottle shop. Complete with garage doors, the new location is a casual vibe where guests can expect the same laid-back atmosphere that Mural City has become known for. The new space will feature a 12-seat bar, 16-person communal table made from salvaged urban ash trees in Baltimore and an eclectic array of vintage living room-style seating sourced from around Philadelphia. Outdoor seating along Berks street will be added as the weather allows.  There will even be fridges where guests can pick out meats and cheeses to create their own charcuterie boards. Mural City will also host summer wine garden pop-ups.

Wines will be available to-go from the bottle shop or enjoyed on-premise. Wines by the glass, beer and non-alcoholic options will also be available. Guests can also select their own cheeses from a specialty cheese fridge which will be plated and served by Mural City staff with additional accoutrements like fig jam and giardiniera from Fishtown Pickle Project.

Owners Nicholas Ducos and Francesca Galarus remain committed to their 300-mile promise, continuing to source all grapes from growers within a 300-mile radius of the city. In addition to local grapes, the winery will also feature cheese from Birchrun Hills in Chester Springs, Perrystead Dairy in Olde Kensington and Bandit in South Philly. Guests can also look forward
to beers from Philadelphia’s Carbon Copy and Triple Bottom Brewing and additional wines from PA-producers including Camuna Cellars in Philadelphia, Vox Vinetti in Lancaster County and Galen Glen in the Lehigh Valley.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to live and operate our business within the same few blocks of this neighborhood, which has really embraced us as a Latinx- and woman-owned business” says co-owner, Francesa Galarus, “We were thrilled to find this larger space so we can continue Mural City’s mission of making wine unstuffy, enjoyable, and accessible to everyone using the
bounty of amazing fruit available right nearby.”

“This is the space we’ve imagined since the inception of Mural City,” says co-owner Nicholas Ducos, “We see this winery as an extension of our living room and cannot wait to welcome our guests and take care of them like family.”

Winery hours will be Thursday 4-10pm, Friday 4-11pm, Saturday 12-11pm, Sunday 12-10pm and Monday 4-10pm.
