Led Zeppelin Was Offered $800 Million for a Reunion Tour and Turned it Down
Well actually one of the surviving members turned it down. Frontman Richard Plant publicly tore the proposed contract that would have made him and his band a fortune.
The proposed $800 million was offered by billionaire mogul Richard Branson. The Virgin CEO was looking to put together a 35 city tour with the legendary rock group. The offer was accepted by band members Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, however when Plant received the contract he vehemently refused to sign. The contract would have netted each member $200 million dollars.
Super star athletes do not even get this kind of money in such short of time. However, a source close to the group stated that Plant, ” Said no and ripped up the paperwork he had been given, there was an enormous sense of shock.”
No word yet on Branson’s reaction to this unfortunate turn of events but it looks like the old saying “everyone’s got a price,” was proven to be untrue.
