Late Night Dining Options Continue to Dwindle as Darling’s Closes
Night owls and club goers may be sad to hear that yet another late night establishment is going under. Yesterday it became official that Darling’s Diner located in the Piazza has closed its doors for good.
You may remember when we featured Darling’s in our Top 5 Places Philadelphians Go to Eat Late Night, it was definitely in a prime spot to do well. Although no official word as to exactly why Darling’s has shut down, many including employees were shocked to discover the establishment closing in such haste. A simple same day email to employees and a sign on the door were the only announcements given.
Serving 24 hours a day, many flocked to Darling’s to get their late night fix but it may not have been popular enough to keep the lights on. Over the years The Piazza has had its fair share of tenants either closing or changing locations. Most notably King’s Oak which is known mostly for their Day Parties and it’s affiliation with the North Shore Beach Club (same owner).
With Darling’s closing across the walkway from King’s Oak’s vacant spot, The Piazza definitely needs to address this area of the plaza which is definitely not a welcoming site for visitors.
