Iron Hill Brewery Announces All Locations Are Closed Effective Immediately
In a surprise announcement that has stunned the Pennsylvania craft beer community, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant has permanently closed all of its locations, citing ongoing financial challenges.
According to an internal email from company leadership, shared with Breweries in PA by an anonymous employee, the closures are effective immediately. The email also confirmed that Iron Hill has filed for bankruptcy after efforts to secure new sources of funding were unsuccessful.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the closure of all our restaurant locations effective immediately,” the message read. “We understand that this news is coming with limited notice; however, we have been working diligently behind the scenes to secure new sources of funding and explore alternative solutions to avoid this situation.”
The email explained that leadership had opted not to inform employees of the financial difficulties earlier, fearing it would compromise negotiations with potential funding partners.
Iron Hill employees were assured that a final payroll would be processed on September 25, 2025, with direct deposits and mailed paper checks issued as normal. Team members enrolled in Kelly Benefits and Lincoln Financial 401(k) plans can expect to receive further information from those providers.

“Each of you has played a vital role in our journey, and we sincerely appreciate your hard work and commitment.”
Iron Hill Brewery, founded in Newark, Delaware in 1996, had grown into one of the region’s most recognized brewpub chains, with multiple locations across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The sudden closure leaves a significant gap in the Mid-Atlantic craft beer and dining scene.
